Who runs this site
Douglas Clarke, for Clarke Industries Inc., a British Columbia, Canada company. We are not in Olympia and we are not a contractor. We publish a sourced guide and run a referral line.
Olympia Water Damage Advice is a free referral and information service, not a contractor. Calls go through our call-tracking line to independent local restoration companies, and we may be paid when a call qualifies. We do not do the work and do not set prices or availability.

Why this site exists
In an Olympia winter the water usually comes from the sky or the river, and searching for help mostly turns up companies asking for the call. This site puts the safe steps first, with every fact tied to the agency, gauge or standard it came from, and offers a phone line after that.
How calls are routed
- You call the number on this site. It is free and commits you to nothing.
- Our call-tracking line routes the call to an independent restoration company that serves Olympia and is taking calls.
- That company answers. If you want a visit, they assess the damage and quote their own price.
Olympia Water Damage Advice is a free referral and information service, not a contractor. Calls go through our call-tracking line to independent local restoration companies, and we may be paid when a call qualifies. We do not do the work and do not set prices or availability. The network or the company that answers may record or log calls. More on how this service works.

Where the facts come from
Federal agencies, the industry standards body, the insurance industry's research group, and Washington and local government offices and utilities:
- Triple-I (Insurance Information Institute)
- U.S. EPA
- Thurston County Emergency Management
- NOAA NCEI
- CDC
- Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner
- NOAA
- National Weather Service, National Water Prediction Service
- National Weather Service (NOAA)
- IICRC
- Washington State Legislature
- Washington State Department of Labor & Industries
For prices, where no official source publishes them, we compare published consumer cost guides and a trade magazine, and say that is what they are:
How facts are checked
- Each factual sentence carries a numbered note that leads to its source, with the publisher, page and date.
- We read the sources ourselves. Where they disagree we say so; where we found no source we left the claim out.
- AI tools help draft the pages. A person checks every claim against its source before it is published, and the review date is shown on each guide.
- We publish no reviews, ratings, testimonials or badges, since we have none of our own.
Last reviewed
Every guide shows the date it was last checked against its sources. The whole site was last reviewed on October 24, 2026.
Photos
Photos are illustrations made with an AI image tool. They do not show real technicians, customers, or the companies that answer calls.
